Pink Women

Came across this snippet in BBC.

“They wear pink saris and go after corrupt officials and boorish men with sticks and axes”

I have to say, the article made me smile and frown at the same time.
While it is heartening to see more women take control of their lives, there is fine line between justice and taking law into your own hands.
Will the Govt. take notice soon enough?

I think it’ll be better if the government takes notice of the wrong-doers over there rather than a self-sustaining and proud group of individuals that is focused on setting things right…but then again how do you define right from wrong?

  2. Shalini Says:

Oh, I didn’t mean for the Govt to take notice of the group - but the reason why the group was formed in the first place. They started it because they were not given justice or because of dowry/abuse. Isn’t that part of the “wrong-doing”?
And I agree - when people take things into their own hands - right and wrong can get fudged soon enough.

Women and fashion - even when they go out beating men they have to be all dressed in pink!

jokes apart..don’t know how many have really lived in such small villages but this is literally a first hand experience and not from a movie - a bad cop gets money from the rich folks in the village and lets them do whatever they want, if govt notices he is transfered, a good cop replaces him (from a place like Mumbai where the mafia wants the good cop transfered), he comes to the village and the rich folks with smaller gangs either offer him bribe or threaten the cop who if lucky has 10 constables and few guns in the whole police station .. few survive to tell the tale!

To the core of all this lies corruption. Uprising of the so called weakened India is necessary to bring some balance, sure there is a thin line between right and wrong but that line has far been crossed by the corrupted!

So is this the solution? Maybe, maybe this is what we need - smaller gangs of justice, power can corrupt them as well, but for the time being the country with billion+ people needs more justice monitoring squads!
