This evening, I ride a bike back home. I have done this before, but never without a car as backup.
3 years back I rode my bike to work, almost everyday before someone who needed it more than I did took it without asking!

Last year I moved downtown, while the commute is hardly 7 miles, its uphill going to work :-(. Few days back I sold my first car, hopefully in couple of days I will sell my other car and will be completely independent.

You may ask, why are you doing this? Well…

I am not going totally green like some folks I know around here, I will be using the local transport half way to work - avoiding the big hill, I don’t want to be too sweaty when I reach work.

I know the next question, what about those camping trips? How will I reach there? I am sure, I will find a bus, a ride to somewhere close, as a last resort rent a car. If you really want to do something, you will find a way!

While only for summers, lets see how long I can continue without a car - fingers crossed!

Once out of college/school, the ball game changes. The players and the playing field changes. You are thrown in between the lions. Hungry, wild, beastly…lions. It’s a fight for survival. Literally….Once you work for a couple of years, even going back to school isn’t that innocent. Now, nothing is ideal. Nothing is a black and white. Everything seems to have shades of gray. Everything borders between what’s practical and what’s not.

Time goes by and may be now, some dreams cease to exist. In general, responsibilities grow and you are expected to perform well at each and every one of them and somewhere along the line, somethings gotta give. That something is never any less important. Brave are those women and men who keep that dream alive. They enable a present that makes them the person that they strive to become. They are those who’d rather burn out than fade away. They are those who live and die by their conviction and faith. They are those who seldom see any grays. They make it happen and they are the inspiration.

And not only will they have realized a dream but also the cost of joy!
